Newton VFD was dispatched to a wood fire off County Road 2001-Leesmill Road shortly before 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Fire was down on a high line and spreading towards nearby structures .
Burkeville VFD arrived to provide mutual aid as well as employees from Commissioner Pct 3 and Texas Forest Service. Fire was contained about 5:30pm. Cause is undetermined at this time.
