Forecast Discussion

A winter storm is forecast to affect Southeast Texas Monday Night through Tuesday with sleet and accumulating snow...five consecutive mornings of freezing low temperatures are expected. Moderate to major effects are expected with respect to travel. A long duration of 40 to 45 freezing temperatures will occur from Monday Night through the early afternoon hours Wednesday. Take care of the Four “P’s.” Be careful warming your home and check in on the elderly to ensure they are warm. Bring Pets indoors. Consider turning off your water to protect Pipes. Cover or bring Plants Indoors. Also, check your antifreeze in your automobile.

Sunday Night: A Cold Weather Advisory will be in effect for lows in the lower to middle 20s with wind chills in the middle to upper teens under clear skies. No precipitation is expected.


Monday: Increasing afternoon cloudiness is forecast with highs in the middle to upper 30s with no precipitation expected.

Monday Night: A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect for Southeast Texas Monday Night. Precipitation will begin after about 10 pm and persist overnight. Sleet changing over to snow is forecast for the Triangle. Mainly snow is expected in the Lakes Area. A Cold Weather Advisory will be in effect. Low temperatures Tuesday Morning will be in the lower to middle 20s with Wind Chills in the middle to upper teens.


Tuesday: A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect. Snow will persist all day until about 3 pm when it gradually ends. Total snow accumulations of 3-5 inches are likely with over 6 plus inches possible. Highs will only be in the upper 20s to around 30 degrees. Wind Chills will remain in the middle to upper teens.


Tuesday Night: A Cold Weather Advisory will be in effect. Lows will be in the middle teens with Wind Chills in the single digits to lower teens. No precipitation is expected.


Wednesday Afternoon: Mostly sunny skies are forecast with highs in the lower to middle 30s. No precipitation is expected.


Thursday: Another very cold morning is forecast with lows in the upper teens to near 20 and morning Wind Chills in the middle to upper teens. Highs Thursday Afternoon will be in the lower to middle 40s under sunny skies. No precipitation is expected.


Friday: Morning lows will be in the lower 20s with Wind Chills in the lower 20s. Thursday Afternoon, warmer weather is forecast highs in the upper 40s to near 50. No precipitation is expected.

Triangle Sunday Night: Clear, very cold and breezy. Wind Chills in the upper teens. Low near: 26° in Beaumont, near: 26° in Orange and 27° in Port Arthur. Winds: Northeast: 5-15 mph.


Lakes Area Sunday Night: Clear, very cold and breezy. Wind Chills in the middle teens. Low near: 22° to 24°. Winds: Northeast: 5-15 mph.


Triangle Monday: Increasing afternoon cloudiness, cold and breezy. High near: 38° in Beaumont, near: 38° in Orange and near: 39° in Port Arthur. Winds: Northeast: 10-20 mph.


Lakes Area Monday: Increasing afternoon cloudiness, cold and breezy. High near: 35° to 37°. Winds: Northeast: 10-20 mph.
