On September 10, 2024, at 10:30am, Newton County Deputies began a pursuit on Hwy 87 just South of FM 1416 after two subjects on ATVs evaded Deputies. One subject was located and found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The suspect, Dakota Paul McCaughn, W/M, 27 YOA, was arraigned and charged with Poss CS PG 1/1-B >=4G<200G (F2); Evading Arrest Detention (MA). Bond was set at $35,000.00. McCaughn has since bonded out of jail.
The other suspect in this incident was identified as Justin Clay Williams, W/M, 28 YOA, and is currently wanted for 38.04 (b)(2) (A) Evading Arrest Det W/Veh (F3) and a Capias – Bond Forfeiture Warrant.
