UPDATE: Newton County Senior Citizens Association August Meeting


Newton County Senior Citizens Association monthly meeting was August 4 at the Senior Citizen/Nutritional Center. Guest speaker was Precinct 4 Commissioner Leanord Powell. Mr. Powell explained the county budget process. He announced that the county will be receiving funding to operate the nutritional program another year. The nutritional program provides a free or low-cost meal to people 60 and older. Meals are served Monday thru Friday 11:30-12:30 at the center located at 509 Main Street (Old hospital). Some people who are homebound may receive meals delivered to their home. For more information on nutritional services contact Program Administrator Sandy Cobb at (409) 379-8765. The nutritional service program accepts public donations Mail donation to 509 Main Street Newton, TX 75966. Judge Ronnie Cochran was also in attendance and announced that the Senior Citizen/Nutritional Center was a cooling station. Hours for the cooling station are Monday thru Friday 8-4.


The next meeting will be September 1 at 10:30. Public is welcomed.
