INVEST 91 L | Showers and thunderstorms associated with Invest 91 L, in the Bay of Campeche (SW Gulf of Mexico) have increased. The system has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next couple of days as it moves northwest.
By late Tuesday, it could be in the Northwestern Gulf of Mexico. Francine is the next name on the 2024 Hurricane List. Strong southwesterly wind shear will begin turning the storm east. Late Wednesday through Thursday Morning, the storm could make a landfall near the Upper Texas Coast eastwards to Morgan City, Louisiana as a tropical storm, possibly a category 1 hurricane.
A plane is set to investigate this system later today and will gather critical data which will be input into computer modeling. Late tonight we'll see how modeling reacts to that data which should give us a better idea of where this is going and how strong it'll be when it gets there.
The new EURO has shifted well east into Louisiana as well for Wednesday night!! More updates later.
