
Newton County - Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard said Wednesday that the subject of the county-wide chase and then manhunt has turned himself in.
39-year-old Antonio Dewayne Jackson of Burkeville was arrested without incident Wednesday and last been changed with a list of crimes. As of this time, Jackson has not seen a Judge so bond if any has not yet been announced.
Jackson's charges are as follows:
1. Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to distribute - FBI
2. Man/Del CS PG 1 >=200g < 400g
3. Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle
4. Tamper/Fabricate Phys Evidence w/intent to impair
5. Reckless Driving
Once Jackson goes before the Judge, charges and bond if any will be formally set. ETB will update our readers at that time.

NEWTON COUNTY – Following a lengthy investigation led by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) into 39-year-old Antonio Dewayne Jackson of Burkeville, a federal indictment was secured on suspected charges of manufacturing and delivery of methamphetamines. Assisting agencies included the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Jasper Police Department.
Today, February 25, 2025, a DPS Trooper observed Jackson leaving the residence located off of Farm-to-Market Road 1415 in a black Dodge Charger and attempted to conduct a traffic stop to take Jackson into custody, however Jackson fled from law enforcement at a high rate of speed. The pursuit however was terminated near the Jasper – Newton County line.
During the pursuit, Jackson allegedly threw out 6.6 ounces of methamphetamines. The Dodge Charger was later located abandoned on County Road 1570 in Newton County and Jackson has not been located.
