Earlier today, January 9th, a car that had been reported stolen approximately two weeks ago was located just inside the Jasper County line, in the Call Community. Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard said that his Deputies along with Kirbyville Police went to the location of the stolen vehicle.

Officers were able to successfully retrieve the vehicle, which had been spray painted in an attempt to conceal its identity.

Sheriff Havard said that he would like to commend his Deputies for their hard work and dedication in helping to recover stolen property in Newton County. Sheriff Havard also extended his gratitude to the Kirbyville Police Department for the collaboration to successfully get the job done.

Havard added that there are suspects in this case and the Sheriff's Department will continue to work with the Kirbyville Police Department to ensure charges are filed.
