Shooting in Bon Wier sends one to the hospital for treatment

Bon Wier, Tx- On Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 12:05 p.m., deputies with the Newton County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at a residence in the 1100 block of County Road 4076 in the Bon Wier community.

Upon arrival, deputies immediately located and detained the individual believed to be responsible for the shooting. Emergency medical personnel rendered first aid to the victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed the incident resulted from a family violence-related altercation and was likely a case of self-defense. No arrests have been made at this time.
