The Newton Co. Republican Club met Nov. 17 in the Newton Civic Center. Guest speaker, Joanne Shofner, 2024 H D-11 Candidate, spoke about her qualifications and conservative values in asking the audience to vote for her to represent Newton County in the Texas House of Representatives. She listed four major points that she will work hard to accomplish: 1) SECURE THE BORDER by stopping illegal border crossings as well as stopping human and fentanyl trafficking, 2) PROTECT OUR CHILDREN by halting sexualizing children through indoctrination in schools as well as stopping big tech and predators from preying on our children and solidifying parental rights and freedom for their children's school choice and Joanna is 100% pro-life. 3) PROTECT TEXANS by defending the 2nd amendment, prevent defunding police, protect women's sports and 4) CUT TAXES by banning taxpayer funded lobbying, reduce property taxes, and reform property tax appraisal system.
