The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 190, west of Jasper, that occurred Saturday, November 23.
DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, " The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 11 p.m., a 2009 Chevrolet Impala was traveling west. It is reported that the Chevrolet experienced mechanical issues, left the roadway, and crashed into a construction embankment."
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 40-year-old Jamie Powers of Newton, was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

At 10:59 pm Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported single vehicle accident on US Highway 190 near the Neches River bridge at Dam B in the construction zone. It was reported that the vehicle was upside down and in the water.
Arriving units found the single male occupant/driver lying in the east bound lane of the highway. The car he was driving had came to rest upside down on the north side of the bridge. The car landed amongst heavy construction equipment and at approximately 20’ below roadway elevation near the water’s edge.
The male driver sustained obvious injuries. He was assessed, treated, and transported by Allegiance Mobile Health - Jasper EMS to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital.
The roadway was closed to traffic in both directions.
The accident was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety - Southeast Texas Region. Assistance was provided by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office - TX and the Texas State Park Police from Martin Dies, Jr. State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife.
The vehicle was recovered and removed by Hatch's Towing, LLC.
The roadway remained closed until 12:30 am.
Beech Grove VFD responded with Engine 11 and 3 firefighters.
