Updated information:

Newton County Constable Pct 4 Howie Wonders released the following information regarding the officer involved in the wreck today:

This is the officer that was involved in the wreck we worked this afternoon in Newton County on Hwy 62. He is in critical condition tonight but hopefully he'll pull through. Please pray for him and his family as they will all be on a very long road to recovery.

Please yield to emergency traffic. It is the law. If you see red blue or a combination of that with clear flashing lights, there is one action for you to take and one action only: slowly and safely pull your vehicle to the right and come to a stop no matter which direction you think the emergency vehicle is going even if the emergency vehicle is in the opposite lane (as this was the case for this officer's wreck). Teach your children this. Have a great night and drive safely.

The two motorcycle police officers were traveling south in the northbound lane and diverting northbound traffic onto the north shoulder, to allow room for the wide load. The officer involved was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Their information is not immediately available.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured. Their information is not immediately available.
