A Celebration of JT Beard’s Life, age 94, of Burkeville, Texas, will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Burkeville Baptist Church in Burkeville, Texas with Military Graveside Service to follow at Toledo Bend Cemetery in Newton County, Texas. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Church.
JT went to be with his Lord & Savior on March 30, 2025. He was born on December 6, 1930 to Ethew and Hazel Beard. He grew up with his siblings (Charles, Harold, Bobby, Joyce, and Josie Nell) on the family farm in Jayess, Mississippi. In these early years, he developed an uncanny ability to build and fix just about anything. He also developed a love for hunting, fishing, and sports.
He joined the Air Force during the Korean War, at which time he met and married Wanda (Betty) Winzer. After his discharge, he worked a variety of jobs, spending the majority of his career in the paper mill industry. He moved to his vacation home in Toledo Bend full time when he retired.
Over the last 35 years, he actively attended and served at Burkeville Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the church.
JT is preceded in death by his wife, his son (Robert), his parents, and his siblings.
JT is survived by his son, Randy Beard and wife Karen from Katy, Texas; daughter, Betty Coppersmith and husband Dave from Eagle, Idaho and grandchildren, Mackenzie Beard, Kendall Beard and Camden Beard.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
