Newton's Homecoming Day activities Saturday 9.28.2024

Newton Homecoming 2024: A Day Full of Fun!

Newton's 2024 Homecoming promises a day packed with exciting activities for everyone! Festivities kick off with a festival on the square, featuring numerous vendors and food trucks serving a wide variety of delicious treats to satisfy any craving.

The Texas Historic Powell Hotel will serve as the Welcome Center throughout the day, offering refreshments and air conditioning for all to enjoy. The hotel's garden area will be beautifully decorated for fall, complete with hay bales, pumpkins, scarecrows, and autumn-themed backdrops—perfect for family photos. The Newton Garden Club will enhance the scene by selling mums in the garden, adding to the festive atmosphere and providing great photo opportunities.

Inside the Powell Hotel, the Newton Revitalization Group will host its first fundraiser—a silent auction of Amazing Cakes baked by local talent. Cakes will be delivered on Friday morning, from 10 AM to noon. Our very own Miss Newton, Madelyn Foster, will be photographed with each cake for social media, adding excitement to the auction. The silent auction begins on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10 AM and concludes at 2 PM, with final cake pick-up at 4 PM from the Powell Hotel.

At 2 PM, the Newton Parade will kick off, featuring participants from Newton ISD, pageant winners, football players, class reunions, and more.

Following the parade, the Newton Ex-Students Association will hold its annual meeting at 3 PM at the Howard Civic Center. Friends and classmates will reconnect, announcements will be made regarding upcoming events, and scholarship winners and memorials for deceased alumni will be recognized.

After the meeting, there will be time to pick up your mums and cakes from the Powell Hotel, attend class reunions, and prepare for the evening’s grand finale: the Newton Homecoming Barn Bash at the Newton County Fairgrounds from 7 PM to midnight.

The Barn Bash will feature live music from RoyBoy Collins & The Texas Roundup Band, along with food, dancing, an auction, and a gun raffle. All proceeds will go toward the Newton County Fair Building Fund, supporting ongoing improvements to the livestock show barn, arena, and fairgrounds for the youth of Newton County.
