Weekly Sheriff’s Report
Released by: Sheriff Colton Havard
January 27, 2025
Hopefully everyone had a great week. We started the week off with the snowstorm and had several wrecks throughout the county. No serious injuries were reported, thank goodness!
Last Thursday, we received our Senate Bill 22 grant money from the State Comptroller’s Office. This helps us raise salaries for our deputies and purchase equipment using state funded money.
Friday was a busy day; we had an accidental shooting off Sheppard Road and then a major crash involving a police motorcycle on Hwy 62 near the Orange County Line. Please keep Officer Taylor and his family in your prayers.
You will start seeing our newly designed patrol vehicles in your neighborhoods. The new reflective design will help improve officer safety and improve visibility, which is a vital component to public safety.
We answered 56 calls for service last week and currently have 19 inmates in the following jails: 10 in Newton, 6 in Beauregard Parish and 3 in Jasper County.
If you need anything from the Sheriff’s Office, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want.
