Calls To Service (September 16, 2024, to September 22, 2024): The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) answered 61 calls to service.
TERRORISTIC THREAT: On September 21, 2024, at 1209 hours, we received a call of a Terroristic Threat on the Deweyville School from a concerned parent. This threat was made on Social Media (Snap Chat). We have identified the person responsible for making the post and they are not in the Deweyville area. There was not an immediate threat to the Deweyville ISD, and we are currently working with the FBI’s Beaumont Office on this investigation.
We take these matters very seriously and we will provide updates to this case as more information becomes available.
Jail Population: We currently have 17 inmates in the following jails;
11 housed in Newton, 4 housed in Beauregard, and 2 housed in Jasper.
Jail Transports: NCSO had 9 jail transports:
2 from NCSO to Beauregard, 4 from JCSO to NCSO, 1 from Beauregard to NCSO, 1 from Hardin County to NCSO, 1 from Ferguson Unit to NCSO.
