Newton County has issued a Burn Ban

Burn Ban in effect until March 25, 2025

When a burn ban is in effect, take these precautions to prevent wildfires:

🔹 No Outdoor Burning – This includes campfires, trash burning, and burn barrels.

🔹 Avoid Using Fireworks – Sparks can easily ignite dry grass and brush.

🔹 Be Cautious with Grilling – Use propane or charcoal grills on non-flammable surfaces, away from dry vegetation.

🔹 Properly Dispose of Cigarettes – Never toss cigarette butts on the ground; use a proper container.

🔹 Secure Trailer Chains – Dragging metal chains on the road can create sparks that ignite fires.

🔹 Limit Equipment Use – Avoid welding, grinding, or operating machinery that generates sparks near dry areas.

🔹 Report Any Signs of Fire – Call 911 immediately if you see smoke or flames.

🔹 Stay Informed – Follow local authorities for updates and changes to burn ban restrictions.

Preventing fires is a community effort—stay vigilant and do your part!
