UPDATE | The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory until 7 p.m.

Chances favor south winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph through today. Minor damage to trees and infrastructure can occur with these forecasted wind speeds, according to the NWS.

A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected in Southeast Texas from Saturday afternoon into the evening, from 2 p.m. through 11 p.m., ahead of a cold front.

If any "discrete cells", or isolated thunderstorms, develop ahead of the line, they will be capable of producing isolated tornadoes, damaging winds and hail.

If storms become severe, then isolated tornadoes will be possible. Severe storms will be capable of dropping large hail 1-2 inches in diameter and producing damaging winds of 58 to 74 mph.

The severe potential is due to an unstable atmosphere ripe with wind shear ahead of a cold front expected late Saturday night.

Residents are advised to monitor weather alerts throughout the weekend.
