Please join us on Wednesday, September 11th at 8:30 am in front of the Memorial Monuments on Main Street, Courthouse Square in Jasper as we pay tribute and honor in a brief ceremony to those who perished on that day in 2001.
In addition, we will be paying tribute and honor to our area first responders and our military for their service and sacrifices to our nation and communities.
The VFW post 6380 will pay special tribute to the 13 military personnel who died as the US exited Afghanistan. It is the three year anniversary of their tragic deaths and the 23rd anniversary of 9-11.
The National “Rise Above” 9-11 monument was unveiled and dedicated in Jasper, Texas on the 15th anniversary and was the only new monument in the US according to the FDNY. A piece of steel from one of the World Trade Towers was given by the FDNY and is embedded into the design, with members attending the unveiling.
A permanent display of the 15th Anniversary commissioning can now be seen at the Jasper County Museum across the street from the monuments. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the Museum.
