Final Autopsy Report on Cierra Westbrook has been released
Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby has issued a press release regarding the death of Cierra Westbrook.
We received the final Autopsy Report on Cierra G. Westbrook, and the Medical Examiner ruled the Cause of death: Methamphetamine Toxicity, the Manner of Death as an Accident.
DETAILS: On Friday August 23, 2024, at approximately 1700 hours, we were called regarding an unresponsive female found near the roadway on County Road 4203 in Deweyville, Newton County, Texas, 77632.
Upon our arrival at the above-mentioned location, we observed a female laying on the ground in the dirt in the driveway of 190 County Road 4203 in Deweyville. The female was later identified as Cierra Westbrook (W/F, 33 YOA), a Deweyville resident.
On the scene it was not clear what caused the victim’s wounds and/or injuries to her body. At this point we can release that Westbrook was not struck by a vehicle though she was discovered close to the roadway.
We worked the scene, conducted numerous interviews, talked to individuals who saw Westbrook in the hours prior to her being found. We spoke with witnesses, family members, and other individuals who had information to provide regarding Westbrook.
A post was later made on Facebook from other sources that stated Westbrook received blunt force trauma. This sends out a false narrative and severely distorts an investigation as well as causes additional stress on family members. It also hinders us in determining what occurred or who may be responsible.
The initial investigation on the scene did not point to the manner of death. That is why we rely on scientific examinations to assist in unattended death cases. These type cases are always handled as a homicide, and the investigation proceeds as such to ensure all steps are taken pending the final ruling by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
