Newton and Jasper Counties are collecting items for disaster relief for the victims of Hurricane Helena in North Carolina. Many groups are collecting items, holding fund raisers, and collecting monetary donations.
While these avenues are not the only ways to donate, they are available to the public to give as they feel led.
Newton Volunteer Fire Department has several ways to donate monetarily. Newton VFD Public Information Officer Melanie Smith said, "We have had several requests on how to donate monetarily. So we have set up account to go directly into the disaster relief fund. We want everyone to know that this is so appreciated and that no donation is too small. Everything counts. And if you need a tax deductible donation letter please let us know."
Donations can be made at the PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App links below;
Also, upcoming fundraisers are another great way to help.
