Burn bans? Getting too close for comfort

Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Chief James Gunter

It’s getting dry outside……

Jasper County, and most other SE Texas counties, now average in the 600-700 range on the KBDI drought index, with the county average at 608 and the highest reading in the county at 678.

800 is the highest on the scale, indicative of critically dry conditions. In the last 24 hours the average has risen by 7 points, and is forecast to continue to increase the coming days.

A cold front is forecast to move through the area tomorrow, lowering the humidity and bringing north winds after passage. Moderate fire danger is forecast.

Our area IS NOT under a burn ban.

However, if you decide to burn outdoors please exercise extreme caution.
