Arctic blast to drop temps locally in the 20's

12News Meteorologist Kerry Cooper

A few light showers are possible tonight as a coastal trough works NE. Much warmer over the weekend ahead of Sunday nights Arctic cold front. Showers and storms some of which could be strong will accompany the front. Behind the front very cold air takes over with with lows near freezing Monday morning and wind chills in the 20's. At this time still don't see any frozen precip but will continue to monitor mid to late next week. Close to a hard freeze Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Now is a good time to start thinking about the pets and exposed pipes.

A few isolated strong storms will be possible again Sunday afternoon ahead of an Arctic cold front. Instability will not be as high as with the last event though. Sunday Future radar below.

An Arctic cold front will arrive Sunday night. Top graphic shows temperatures near freezing Monday morning, Bottom graphic shows wind chills in the upper teens to low 20's at that same time. Click on images to enlarge. I'll have more this afternoon on 12 News.
